The 12" Uconnect looks impressive at first glance, but is woefully underutilized. Below is a list of things I would like to see added.

1) Add full screen support for 360 degree camera. The way it's done now is ridiculous. You get one tiny screen next to backup camera screen which itself only gets about a quarter of available screen space.

2) Add vehicle manual and a search so that the display can tell you how to do things people usually are too busy to spend time searching through paper manual for. If it's already there I couldn't find it. Had no such problem in Volvo. This should be next to the home button or a first result in apps list.

3) Add ability and a toggle preset to OFF for OTA updates.

4) Add ability to connect to wifi for OTA updates or album art downloads. Doesn't matter if it's in home or your phone's hot spot.

5) Display album art for bluetooth songs. Even if the app doesn't support album art over bluetooth, that could be done over internet.

6) Show list of upcoming and previous songs in your current/previous playlist even over bluetooth so we can quickly go to a particular one. Especially useful if playing an album.

7) Add 3rd party support so that we can thumb up/down songs for GPM, Pandora, Spotify, etc and have other more advanced features so that we don't have to fiddle with phone while driving.

Ram should just look at Volvo's Sensus system. All of these are already there.

I'd like to see these:

  • Toggle setting for full screen CarPlay and/or Google Auto
  • Option to auto fold mirrors when turning off engine
  • Option to remove all ancillary search and icons from Nav, with one click, so it shows the full 12.9" map when needed. That would be great in my opinion.
  • Remove the 360 camera timeout, and instead make it speed dependent (since once you put the truck in drive, it turns off within 10 seconds, which sometimes is way too short)
  • Option to for seat heating/cooling to come on at last used setting

I had a few more that I can't recall, but all this could be easily done in a software update.

Cheers,

I agree and I mainly got the Tazer DT just for #4 above, but it will also do #2 above as well as the window roll down or up and Nav keyboard in motion.

1- brightness option for the screen the only 2 options we have is full brightness or night mode there is nothing in the middle
2- allowing themes and photos direct from flash so you can customize the screen theme as you like
3- playing movies from cd and flash while car parking or not moving
4- a screen that can show the temp for ur engine , trans , oil , air , battery , oil life . etc in one place just like the SRT screen

Curious...(1) we can set brightness manually via + and - for both day and night modes in UConnect. Have you tried that?

As to (4), there is an instrument cluster screen display mode that shows several of these at once (not counting all of the programmable areas), but I agree with you that it would be cool to see them (and more) in UConnect.

Oh, OK - I just leave it on Auto, so I’m sure you know better than me!

1) Ability to use VR to search for a specific POI by name. Whether it's by hitting the steering wheel button or tapping the permanently-greyed-out microphone icon on the search screen.

2) ditto above about a setting to auto fold in the mirrors when you turn the truck off

3) likewise, a setting to auto lower the air suspension to Entry/Exit mode when you turn the truck off

4) ditto on full screen for Android Auto. On top of that, I'd like each of the individual apps in Android Auto to be a separate App in Uconnect. So, instead of having the Uconnect media in one half of the screen, I could have AA Google Maps in one half and the AA Media Player in the other half. Or full-screen either one.

5) wireless screen projection for Android Auto. Having to connect a cable to see Google Maps on the screen sucks.

6) a setting to choose what level to set the vented seat fan to when it comes on automatically. It always come on on Low and I always have to change it to High. Ditto for the heated seat and steering wheel when it's cold. In the same vein, settings for what temps to have those features come on. I.e. I might want the heated seat and wheel to turn on automatically at 45F instead of 40. And I might want the vented seat to come on any time the temp is above 60F.

7) Enhance the Uconnect Android smarthphone app so that I can login into my Google account inside the app, so that when I'm using the map inside the app, I can see my Google search history and all my Starred Places.

8) Change Nav so that starting routing is a 1-step process instead of 2. I always have to tap "Find Route" (or whatever it says) and then tap again to say "Go". If I just told it to "navigate home", I don't want to have to do any more steps or confirmations. Start routing automatically, but give me some way to view options, in case I want to change the route it has selected. Same thing for going places other than "home". If I'm viewing a Location (address, POI, whatever), I want to do 1 step (whether it's one screen tap or one voice command) to have it start giving me directions. And, for that matter, give me a 1-tap "Go Home" button right on the main Nav screen.

9) When the ventilated seat is on, it shows an icon at the top where the size of the fan indicates what level it's set to. Let me tap that icon to cycle through the fan levels. Maybe even just always show the seat icon and tapping it cycles through all the levels of heat and cool, so I never really have to go into the "Controls" app to change my seat heating/cooling.

10) A Uconnect Clock app that I can display in either side of the split screen - or full-screen the clock. And make it a full-feature Clock while they're at it. Alarms. Timer function. Stopwatch function. Customizable appearance. Maybe let me load a JPG to use as the clock background. Etc.. Give me an option to have it look just like the analog clocks in some of the high-end luxury car dashes.

11) A setting so that I can have the Nav app default to showing the map by default, even when I'm not using to to navigate me. Lots of times, I don't want it to navigate me, but I want to see a real-time map as I'm driving, so I can navigate myself. As it stands, I have to tap the Nav app and then swipe left every time to get to the actual map. Or even just make it where it goes back to whichever screen I was on last.

12) Make it where when satellite radio is only in half-screen mode, the preset buttons display the channel art like they do when it's in fullscreen mode. (that may already be a known bug - I think I might have already seen a reference to this somewhere in the forums)

13) Make it where, in the Media app, I can be listening to one source while I'm browsing another source. E.g. I'm listening to music that is streaming via Bluetooth from my phone. I want to switch over to satellite radio to see what's playing on some different channels there, while still hearing the BT stream from my phone. I don't want it to actually start playing what's on satellite radio until I actually tell it to. And vice versa. Keep playing satellite (or CD or whatever), while I flip over and browse around on my BT connection or my USB device.

14) Let me disable audio sources, so when I use the steering wheel button to cycle through audio sources, it doesn't hit on those. E.g. I never listen to AM radio and don't want it to ever stop there.

15) Let me long-press on the steering wheel buttons (the ones on the back of the wheel). Long-press in the center of the left button and it pops up the presets and lets me use up and down to navigate to the one I want, then press the center of the button again to select it. As it is, I can only press in the center to cycle through them. So if I'm on preset 2 and want to change to 1, it's a lot of button presses. Likewise, for the right button, long-press shows a list of sources and I can use up/down to get to the source I want. Instead of having to cycle through them all.

Is that enough? They could have that all done by next week, right? LOL

1) When I see VR, my first thought is always “virtual reality”. lol

2) YES!!!

4) and 5) Yes, but for CarPlay.

6) and especially 9) Agreed!

11) Totally! This should be the default.

All good ideas!

Near the top of my list is this: I have the tow mirror package that can tilt the mirrors downward... but I'd like to have the ability to choose only one mirror to tilt and keep the other in normal orientation- I know for sure others on here can share my frustration with this!!

Allow keyboard access while driving. (Tesla does this) Seems silly to have a nice screen where you have peripheral eyesight on the road, and instead, have to pull out phone, dig up the destination there, and send it to the truck, which rarely works so far?

Add Subwoofer crossover/level control for harman/kardon system. That thing sounds terrible.

Ditto removing camera timeout. Why is it a problem for that to stay on for however long you need it to?

Wait, what? Even my 8.4 NAV has DESTINATION and you select State, City, Street and type it out on the screen .. or press the button on the steering wheel to say your destination (which I never use because 'she' can't understand me LOL)
