I have a 2020 RAM which I take very good care of, both inside and out. I had been seeing all these reports online about 5thG sun visor breaking, as well in other jeep vehicles, etc.
Well today my driver side visor broke and apparently I past the warranty. Two questions:
1. Do the OEM replacement visors have corrected parts?
2. Why in hell is this not a national recall from Dodge?? Visor could break and flop down while you're driving down the road...accident anyone?
This is BS!

My 2020 visors work as well as they did new. So, I think this is more of a "happens to a few" thing not every one. That's why there isn't a recall.

Thanks for the response. From the amount of owners complaining about the broken visors, either on forums/ youtube, it appears to be more than a few IMO.

I've been on this forum since 2020 and I can count on 1 hand the posts that I've seen about them. I don't doubt there are a lot, but for all the vehicles sold, I think it is still not significant.

But yet, somehow there is a need for some aftermarket quickfix repair kit for the 5th gen RAMS that is selling like hotcakes for under $20. Price for new OEM Homelink sunvisor $150 +/ -

Generally, for there to be a recall issues, there has to be a history of serious accidents caused by the defect, or serious safety issues. The posts I've read, the visors break when people are trying to move them. So you are already distracted by that, and probably isn't going to lead to an accident. I rarely move my visors.

People misunderstand why companies do recalls. It’s generally not about trying to keep customers happy. Recalls happen when a companies’ actuaries determine that the cost of a liability associated with a safety issue is greater than the cost to recall and fix that issue. Some times the government steps in and forces the recall, but typically a recall is about mitigating liability cost.

Love those actuaries! I have never understood how they calculate the value of a human life at either a very young age, without education, work, or income history, or at a very old age, for loss of love and consortium and how much all of that is worth to the family members seeking to recover damages for their loss. This is not to mention how to value the pain and suffering a deceased experienced in death and how much that is worth on a case-by-case basis. It is a science of calculating uncertainty, like proposing a hypothesis that cannot be tested, and there is no way to reasonably ascertain standard deviations and scientific deductions--it is all smoke and mirrors.

What part of the visor is breaking? I use my driver side one multiple times every weekday morning on the way to work by flipping it down driving East and back up when turning north or south. The down again to hold my windshield curtain the whole work day. Then rinse and repeat on the way home. However I don't think I have ever unclipped it to shield the side window.

I just leave mine down. I don't see the need to constantly up and down with it. Same with passenger, even though I hardly ever have a passenger. 19 w/98K miles

2020 Limited, 44,000 mi... passenger visor broke 2 yrs ago.

I have the aftermarket fix, but leave it broken. Gives passenger something legitimate to complain about.

Bonus: I like to stick it back in place just so it falls... changes the subject immediately at appropriate times.

I had to change driver side on 2020 Laramie. Before 50k. Bought one online but disappointing.
