I've done a lot of searches on replacing the subs in our trucks. I have the Alpine system and I'm planning to upgrade it this summer. I've seen alot of what and how, but I'm looking to hear more about your results vs the original sub. Single sub? Two subs? What size did you go with? Sealed or ported? Was it significantly louder or deeper? I'm currently debating what I'm going to go with. I've considered everything from a single monster 8 sub like an ultimax ported to a single 12 sealed. I'd prefer to keep the box limited to the passenger side underseat. I still want to have access to the floor bins and would prefer it not to rest on the all weather mats. That eliminates all of the prefab boxes I believe. I'm mostly after SQ, but I do like to crank it up, and feel the music as well as hear it. In the past I've generally gone with sealed boxes, but it's been decades since I've messed around with car audio.

Additionally, I still have an Audison bit Ten, but from what I'm reading the amp pro and DSR1 is where most people are going. Any tips, suggestions, and especially just your general impression of your stereo upgrade is appreciated.

There is no comparison to a decent aftermarket sub in a well constructed box. I went with JL Audio 10W1V3’s in a sealed box.

I went with dual 10" Skar Audio SVR-10D2. I made my own box that would fit between the floor bins but it still sits a lil on the rubber matts. But I can still access the floor bins. I made it to have about .75cuft for each sub. The dimensions of the box are 41"×11.5"×8" and I used 3/4" mdf.

Nice, got any pics with the seat down? I assume it pokes out a little?

Didn't take any pics with the seats down but the box only stick out less than an 1" from the seat bottom. I could have raised to seats with seat spacers but for this setup I didn't need to.

Is yours a Crew cab or a Quad Cab? Crew cab has more room under the seats.
Mine is a Quad Cab and it was a challenge to build a box that doesn't stick out too much and still have adequate airspace for what I wanted but I did it, 2 10" Sundown Audio SA v2 sealed on 3000 watts, sounds great.

Still waiting on my JL custom box to be delivered. I guess they custom create the boxes as I have been waiting a full month now.

interested in the same some guy name audiofabrication has a few videos where he explains stuff and i saw in his lay out a ported downwards box. that allows weight onto but still kicks it was a single box and can put a 8 or 10

I have a crew cab. I'm just being as stingy as I can with the space, but still get some decent SPL out of it. Ideally I could still maintain a little storage under the drivers side.

I've seen that guy, but he has all of the toys and probably one of those brains that can calculate air space just by looking at it.

I don't have much room left

I'm running a JL 10TW5-D4 and ya, no comparison to the stock sub. Just have it in a temporary box right now but I'll be after the same thing, passenger side, access to floor boxes. Look at MTI acoustics half box cubby saver. If you're quick I think they still have 20% off for February right now.

yea im emailing him to see bout geting a box made haha i add the size i want. maybe give him dimesions im thinking about i wanna have the box in the middle downward and ported. and sealed i think

I might sell the single 12 i had before, i'll try locally, it's pretty heavy and awkward to ship. Hell i might sell the amp rack too i won't be using it again
