Hi, new to the forum. Just bought a '21 Ram 1500 Laramie. About once a day the shift knob will not move out of 'Park.' If I shut the engine off and then restart it, it works fine. Has anyone had this problem? A service tech at the local Ram dealership said there were no bulletins or recalls about this issue. So far it hasn't been a problem, its always shifted on the second try, but I would hate to be somewhere out in the boonies and have this happen and NOT be able to shift it and drive.

Possibly a brake switch issue? Or could be the shift dial itself not releasing.

Thats all the dealership said? They need to look at it asap.

Could be a bad brake switch, something in the doors, not being recognized as closed, or a faulty shifter.
