So today tried the steering wheel heat for the first time. push the dash button, light comes on for maybe 3 seconds and goes off. tired the touchscreen - same thing. Seat heats work fine. I know these trucks have a bunch of settings but I didn't really see anything that would have an effect on this.
is there a secret decoder ring for this or do I need to take it back to the RAM boys for a look-see?

I may have found the answer: from the manual:

Heated Steering Wheel — If Equipped
The steering wheel contains a heating element that helps
warm your hands in cold weather. The heated steering
wheel has only one temperature setting. Once the heated
steering wheel has been turned on, it will stay on until the
operator turns it off. The heated steering wheel may not
turn on when it is already warm.

The heated steering wheel control button is located on the
center instrument panel below the touchscreen, and are
also located within the climate or controls screen of the
touchscreen.
• Press the heated steering wheel button once to turn
the heating element on.
• Press the heated steering wheel button a second time
to turn the heating element off.
NOTE: The engine must be running for the heated steering
wheel to operate.

it doesn't state a temperature, but my digits were cold...
maybe they were worried that it would get too hot for some wuusies to handle while driving... that could be bad.

Your last point is very true. I have to turn my steering wheel off every morning because it gets too hot after about 5 minutes of being on. Guess I just called myself a wussie.... LOL! :ROFLMAO:

Something else going on. I can turn my on even in the 70s outside and it will stay on fine.

What they said above...

It won't turn on, if you setup in the options to come on automatically upon starting, when the heat outside the truck is over 40 degrees, I believe.

However, I can turn mine on with the button on UConnect anytime and it heats up quickly. Sometimes, it is almost too hot, but I can turn off, let cool down and turn back on. (Don't change a thing please Mopar.)

It is way better than my GMC, which used to cycle on and then off (even with the button pushed to on), etc.

OK, point(s) taken.. I scoured the setups and didn't find any mention of it.. both the real button and the virtual buttons all do the same thing, comes on and 2-3 seconds goes back off. I gotta hunch if I take it back to Ram Mecca they'll just point to the manual.

Yours is displaying the same symptoms mine did. The plug literally fried and I had to have the whole wheel replaced. I waited 7 months for a new wheel to ship. Granted, I bought early In production on 8/18. So the supply has surely caught up by now. Take it to dealer to diagnose, but sounds exactly like my issue.

Right. That’s what I do.

I'll be doing exactly that next week when I get back to Joshua Tree.. we only have one dealer service center in the area but it's a Chrysler dealer so, it's all good :)
I'm impressed though, for all the goodies this truck has, the wheel heat is the only thing that isn't working.
Thanks.
