Hello everyone

I’ve got a 5.7 L E torque engine with 80,000 miles. Recently it has started to make a squeaking sound coming from the front of the engine at idle. It would make you think of a pulley squeaking but after spraying a little wd40 on all pulleys that I could spray, it didn’t make any change. The squeak is intermittent and only at idle. Goes away after rpm increase. Any ideas? Maybe etorque unit or water pump? Anyone had similar experience with this?

Spraying WD40 isn't going to do anything. If it's an idler pulley, it won't get into the bearing. Try finding a long screwdriver, or even a dowel, and hold it with your thumb on the end. then, touch the other end, near the pully, where you don't catch in the belt, and lead your ear, against the knuckle of the thumb that's on the dowel. It's an old mechanic trick, to isolate bearings.

Thanks for the info. I’ll try that out. If it’s just a simple idler pulley, I’ll change it out myself. I just hope it’s not something in the E torque or worse, internal engine. I’m not up on the new technology much, but my past experience tell me the squeak is coming from a pulley somewhere.

Harbor freight sells inexpensive mechanics stethoscope and I used one to diagnose a pulley and tensioner in my wife’s vehicle

A little word of wisdom though. If you get in there to change the pulley(s) just go ahead and do all the pulleys and tensioner/ serpentine belt. Its inexpensive and easy to do.
