I've got the sport package with Nexen Roadian HTX. I plan on running them until I need to replace them with an A/T. I like the ride and gas mileage, but has anyone used them in the snow? I live in WI, but as long as they're OK I'll just deal with it. Don't offroad and really just want A/Ts after this for better winter performance and better look.

I ran the Nexens for a little while last winter and didn't like them so I bought a set of Blizzak DMV-2 on a set of cheap rims to run in winter. I think the Nexens are awesome for OEM tires and great in summer but didn't like them in snow. My 2014 had the stock Goodyear SRA tires and they were terrible - I replaced those with Hankook Dynapro atm and found those to be great in snow and summer. Basically I think a dedicated set of winter tires is the best situation for stopping and turning in ice and snow but a set of good M/S rated all-terrains like to Falken Wilders or Hankook Dynapros are a good compromise for running one set all year that also look good.

That's funny, I had the wrangler SR-As on my wrangler and replaced them with Hankook ATMs. I felt unstoppable in fresh snow after that switch. I traded in that jeep for this truck. The SR-As were replaced with 50k on them and I could spin them in the rain with a v6 at that point. Would you say the Nexen's are better than the SR-As? I'll find out this winter whether I think the Nexens are that bad, but I'd almost prefer to pull them off sooner rather than later if they're terrible so that I could maybe sell them with more tread. I'm not sure how much of a market there would be for them though...

I thought the Nexens were bad after driving on the dynapros but can't remember enough to compare to the SRAs. I am guessing coming from those Hankook tires you won't like the Nexens in the snow. I love having the Nexens for half the year and the blizzaks for winter but understand not everyone wants to store tires etc. When I got rid of my Goodyear SRAs on the old truck I sold them on Facebook for like $200 to a guy who was touring in a lease and had a damaged tire so he wanted 4 OEM tires to put on before he turned it in.

I'm not planning on swapping out snow tires. I'd like to get some Falkens or Hankooks again. I'll test out the Nexens this winter and by next summer I'll have a house to store them at if I end up hating them. Then I can throw them up for sale and not be in a hurry to get rid of them.

I find the falkin wildpeak AT3W an excellent choice year round. They have the mountain snow flake on them for snow and are excellent in rain etc. Im running them now and had them on my tacoma when I traded it for the big horn. I live in New Hampshire am glad I have them. I get 50 t0 55 thousand out of them. run 42 psi in front and 39 to 40 in the rear. Rotated every oil change.

I'm eyeing up the 275/60/R20s since they should fit with no rubbing. I think I'll wait until next fall so I can go all next summer on the all seasons.

Update if anyone cares: we've had about 5 different snow storms so far. Pleasantly suprised by the stock all seasons in the snow. With 4wd i can hit the gas pretty hard if nobodys around and get moving pretty quick. Stopping is fine if you give yourself plenty of room as you should no matter the tires. Haven't been in anything too deep yet (more than say 4") but I'm near the city so plows are out quick most of the time.

I'm sure they will be ok through this season as you have noted. 300-400# of weight in the bed over the axle, preferably sand bags that don't slide around...

Agreed, I got the tires that come with the night package and I’m super happy with how they perform in the snow and they look good too. I only change tires when its needed, lol.

I wouldn't know about my Ltd's performance in snow with the stock Goodyear Eagles. (To call those "all season" is a real joke).
I swear it saw a snowflake last week and whimpered that it wanted to stay in the garage...
"When it snows, I don't goes..." is what it was muttering...
