Ordering my tires this weekend, and wondering if I should also order a new spare - because --- I'm assuming with a large change in circumference of moving to a 34.3" tall tire, I should consider changing the tire size of the spare as well. So I have two questions:

1) How close to 34.3" tall do I need to get for it to be close enough? +- 1"? Less?

2) Is there room under there for a tire that tall?

Disclosure: I don't have a Ram and have not checked the manual to see what is says.

My Durango manual indeed says axle damage can occur with different size tires. OEM tires are 265/50/20 and the full size spare is 245/65/18. A difference in diameter of 0.11"... or 0.3%.

Unless the Ram manual says otherwise, I'd want to be a lot closer than +/- 1".

Yes you should order a new spare tire and it appears that you can fit roughly a 35 inch tire down there
