Side mirror question….

Greetings and salutations, everyone. Well, I’m not a fan of the power folding mirrors on my 2019 Ram Laramie.

Have had the truck 2.5 months and already the RH mirror won’t fold at all, and the LH folds but jumps and makes all kinds of noises doing it. They just seem really flimsy. The power fold isn’t that important to me , and I’ve already priced the OE pieces, new and used.

Does anyone here have experience with an aftermarket mirror that works well instead? I’d love a larger side mirror (58 here) and I’d like to keep my controls… heat, blind spot, etc. Ideas or suggestions? Would a towing mirror be a better fit for what I’m looking for?

All of the OEM mirrors have plastic gears, for weight savings which easily break.
Look up Gruvenparts, they make brass replacement gears for all of the OEM's including Ram.
Look them up on YT, the gear installation is not for the faint of heart, the gearbox has to be cut in half and then glued back together.
With all of the options, camera, photo chromatic dimming, and proximity indicators, a replacement mirror can be quite expensive, I will try this when I see this failure mode with my truck.
