Should I sell my 23 Bighorn V6 for this 23 Rebel?

I am thinking of selling my truck and buying a Rebel I found for sale. My truck is a 23 Bighorn V6 4x4, crew cab, night edition with level 2. (12” screen, alpine). 17,500 miles.

Carvana will give me 35k for the truck. I bought it brand new for 42k. At the time the interest rates were high and I was happy with a V6. Reliability being my main concern.

Now I’m getting the itch for a truck that will give me some fun. Love my Bighorn but the V6 is definitely a grocery getter, or to carry some tools.

Thoughts?

I think you are answering your own question with your comments. Now whether you want that exact truck is up to you. The mpg meter will go down, the fun meter will go up. Financing/availability of a factory extended warranty and other such is all your call.

You can get a new BH 2025 4x2 for less than $43K from a large volume LA state dealer. I didn't see any 4x on their inventory and they have no 24's.
A bit curious as to why their stocks are so low considering December is usually a really big sales month.

The big northeast coast dealer in MD who is a forum advertiser has 28 new 1500's, several are BH 4x under $45K but they add delivery on the bottom... I didn't see any Rebels. Watch out for fees.

Out in the great state of ID, the big ram dealer there with a DD in the name has about the same, several 2025 4x BH's under $45, he has a Rebel in the mid 50's.

I have been pretty happy with the 5.7 eTorque and definitely think its a great engine. Its also not a bad time to snatch one up for a good price since the trend seems to be moving away from them, which IMO means the price will go up for them..both for sale and resale/trade.

@Willwork4truck has a solid point that if your looking it doesnt hurt to see if you can work a deal on a new truck. Reset the miles / factory warranty / ect. and potentially get exactly what you want instead of just most of what you want.

I look a LOT at the 2500 market since I tow often. The 1500 does great now that ive added the tow springs, but it would be nice to have the 2500 just the same. Time + opportunity - cost = worth it?

I don’t want new because I’m hearing poor reliability on those hurricane engines. Either the V8 or I’ll stick with my natural v6

absolutely. When i say new I mean a new V8 that is still out on the lot.

I don’t think you’re going to find a new Rebel sitting on a lot for anywhere near 48k those still fetch a premium. I would shop around if the price makes sense I say go for it as long as you’re happy with the deal and price. Who cares thats its a used truck as long as it appears well taken care of and not beat to crap. 17k miles is nothing.

Unless someone got it repoed and never changed the oil/obviously beat on it, 17K should be fine. I'd get a factory extended warranty (you are already saving $ buying used), get it serviced/recalls done, Uconnect updated and enjoy your V8.
Be advised there's already several recalls out there for the 1500's. I go in for 2 recent ones next week.
