I have a Shark fin antenna replacement 2019 ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn. I would like to replace my which got damage when I pulled into a low hinging covered parking.

My vehicle has airbags located in the headliner and I have so concerns dropping the liner. Is there any special precaution I should take if I do so?

Also, what is the best way for me to handle this project?

Any insights?

Thanks

If you have a sliding rear window the task is a little easier.

You'll need to disconnect the battery and wait about 30 minutes for any air bag modules to discharge.

The rear of the headliner will need to come down enough to access the mounting nut for the antenna and to disconnect the two pigtail cables coming from the antenna itself. This will require removing the C-pillar inner panels, B-pillar panels, coat hooks, relieving the rear door weatherseals and whatever necessary to get the rear of the headliner low enough to get your hands and arms above it.

From inside the vehicle the connectors for the fin antenna are located just to the left of the high stop lamp assembly. There's an inner and an outer gasket for the base of the antenna.

If you have two elbows on the same arm, it helps.

Best of luck,
Dusty
