Hey guys, I have a 2019 ram 1500 bullhorn v6. Recently the service power steering light comes on and immediately locks out my steering wheel for up to an hour most of the time. This is when I turn it on, after waiting it eventually unlocks and I can drive it with no issue. This happens every time I turn it on. I got it checked with a computer and was told it was my rack and pinion. I checked the fuses and have replaced my battery about 3 months ago. Does anybody have an idea on what it could bc before I spend all this money on the part and labor?

Never heard of service steering wheel. Who checked it with a computer, to determine rack and pinion? It sounds weird that a steering wheel code would show from a steering rack. I would guess more likely, the clockspring losing contact somewhere. But these trucks are so complex, it's a guess. CBTY2050 is a mechanic, maybe PM him.

That’s my bad I meant service power steering. I went to a local shop that specializes on electrical problems, that’s all I was told after they did their diagnostic. And thank you I’ll be sure to PM him.

In that case, yes, service power steering, would be rack and pinion. We have electric power steering.
