So I found a slightly used truck with the options I want but it's out of state. I spoke with a few local dealers who don't offer loaner cars unless I buy from them. That's a concern with the likely hood of the truck needing service. Tried calling Ram directly but the automated system can't hear me and disconnects me. I was trying to find out if I can have warranty work performed by an independent shop so I can avoid the crappy local dealers and if they will provide for a loaner car. Does anyone know if that's even possible? I really like the truck but I'm close to pulling the plug on the whole deal over this. I know I won't be a haappy camper if I own a 50k truck and then have to pay for a rental if it needs a recall done or something like that. Thanks in advance.

I don't know of many or any independent shops that provide loaners for free. Even some dealers only rent you a car... If the deal is that good, and you've done a search or asked your local dealers to match the offer, then I suppose you roll the proverbial dice.

Warranty work must be performed at a dealer. There is no logical reason they would pay an independent shop to make warranty repairs.

Loaners are never guaranteed and some dealers will offer that option as a courtesy only if you buy from them, but many don't offer loaners at all no matter where you buy from. There are exceptions where they might cover rental car costs if its a recurring or major warranty issue, but totally a case by case situation from my experience.

Good luck!

Thanks for the replies. Was thinking I could just add 1500 to the sale price and consider that the real price. That would give me about 30 days of car rental.
