Shop scratched brand new wheels during installation. Machine gouges at 4 different places along the rim. Is it normal?

It happens. Depends on the types of machine that's used. Looks like those are on the inside of the wheel so at least you won't have to look at them all the time. You can try complaining to the shop that did the tire work to see if you can get any compensation out of them. Next time you might want to discuss with the shop what kind of tire machines they use and how they clamp the wheel during tire removal/mounting.

Happen to mine on one rim a few
Years ago. Showed the tire shop before I left and they ended purchasing a new rim replaced it. A good tire and rim shop will have the proper equipment to do a mount. Reason I now don’t use the same shop that initially installed mine.

Never using this shop again. showed it to them and they said its normal and can do nothing about it.

I know this is not wheel related.....
Whenever my truck goes into any shop, I always do a walk around the vehicle with the service advisor.
I point out the fact that the rims are fine, the step rails do not have any scratches, the tonneau cover is perfect, the body paint does not have any scratches & etc... I even point out the one spot on the front fender that has a spot of touch up paint about the size of a nickel (my touch up) that is already there.
I have a high maintenance pretty pavement princess and I want her to stay that way.
I tell the shop DO NOT WASH the vehicle...
I also do a walk around before I leave the shop checking everything.
A friends vehicle has a scratch on the tail gate that was caused by the dealership. He discovered it when he got home. He went right back to the shop and they basically told him to go pound sand.

I do the same and my dealer also takes pictures but I still do my walk around with them before I leave and when I pick it up.
