2022 rebel Cold start, shifted to drive, step on gas, truck was moving, rpm surge a little(all normal), then my foot is off the gas pedal, rpm will still fluctuate/surge a little then drop, seems like only happens in the first gear, anyone has experience what is going on?

Only once, however in a different situation. I was idling at a In N Out fast food line. I was either in park or neutral, and gave the engine a little rev to maybe 1500 rpms, however once I released the throttle it keep at 1500 rpms, didn't drop again until I put the truck in drive.

Now that I think about it, it's quite a bit different than your scenario except the rpms didn't do what they should have.

It is probably just warming the catalytic converters when engine is cold.

It seems like only happens on 1st gear or start up, once it reaches higher gear, rpm acts normal again

2021 lone star, 5.7, 44k miles. Any luck with issue? Similar problem here. When vehicle is in park and I give a steady push on the gas pedal and try to hold rpm’s at 1000, it will jump up to about 1500 rpm then drop down to about 900, and continue fluctuating until I let off the gas. I experience this issue while in motion in first gear as well. If I’m making a turn left or right in first gear it almost seems like I don’t have control of my speed. Slight acceleration when turning and my truck will take off. Even when I take my foot off the gas it will continue to gain speed and climb rpm’s until it shifts into 2nd gear. Very dangerous and annoying.
