I have a 2019 Ram 1500 5.7 with just over 80k miles that I've had for 4-5 years and over the last few months, whenever the engine is not warm (regardless of ambient air temperature), it runs rough and sounds pretty bad for the first several seconds after being started. After 10-25 seconds, it sounds completely normal and when the engine is warm it sounds normal on startup. Video doesn't capture the sound very well, but I tried:
My first thought was maybe the oil takes a while to circulate on startup but the noise seems odd even for a poorly lubricated engine. I change the oil myself every 5000 miles with Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, so there is no lack of proper maintenance. Any thoughts on what this could be and if it's a concern? Was thinking of doing a Blackstone laboratories oil test on my next oil change too.
