Road trip suggestions Mark Dodge to Phoenix

When my truck finally comes in, I plan on flying to LA to pick it up and drive home. Has anyone else made the trip and if so, any suggestions where to stay over on the way? I figured I might stop over in San Antonio the first leg, after that not many choices that I can see....El Paso? Or just drive straight through.

Not sure if you have picked your truck up yet but thought I'd answer....if coming from Phoenix, it's not too bad to go straight through to San Antonio...something like 13-14 hrs if I remember correctly. I would avoid El Paso if you can, it's a mess.
