So I bought a used 2020 1500 Bighorn with Sport Appearance Package, dealership said it had been in a minor fender bender, but nothing major and everything checked out.
I noticed a few months after getting it the paint on the front bumper was wrinkling in a wierd way and then noticed the rear bumper paint was bubbling around the edges.
I contacted my local dealership (not the dealership I bought it off of) and they said it looked strange, took pics and send them off the FCA. FCA stated that the bumpers must have been repainted and denied any coverage.
I then took it back to the dealership I got it from and they stood behind their used vehicles and would cover getting it fixed, great!
So I take it to the body shop and he takes one look at the rear bumper and scratches the paint off and it's chrome underneath. He says that's not something you should do, they have repainted a chrome bumper which I thought was wierd because it was the sport package and came with body-colour bumpers (I have the window sticker)
He then looks at the front "wrinkling" assuming it was the same issue but it's not chrome underneath but says whoever painted it did a **** job and probably left it to bake too long or didn't allow it to dry after cleaning it and putting on the first coat.
So my theory is the "fender bender" was that the truck got crunched and had to have both bumpers repainted, but there was more damage on the back and they had to replace it completely but couldn't get a colour match bumper so decided to paint a chrome one instead and also did a **** job on the front one.
Any other theories? Surely the body-colour bumpers wouldnt' come chrome from the factory and have been painted like that by FCA?
All in all, it's all being covered so good on the dealership that sold it to me.
