I am going to remove the wiper arms on my 2019 RAM 1500 Limited and repaint them as they've dulled and got some missing paint. My question is, do you simply unscrew the nut on the arm where it attaches to the spinning bolt? See photo.IMG_7430.JPG

Yes. And it will be easier to wiggle them up and off if the arm is up. Word to the wise: wrap an old towel or something around the blade, in case you bump it and it decides to slam against the glass.

When you to reinstall them, turn wipers on then off so you are absolutely certain things are in the parked position. before you try slipping the arm back on the shaft.

Not a bad idea. Between the OP being 71 and the truck likely going through a half dozen harsh winters (dulled paint), a little persuasion may make removal a lot easier.

On edit: Look for alignment marks on the windshield, usually printed into the laminate near the wiper tips. Verify these before removal, then match them up when reinstalling. If no marks, use some painters tape to indicate where to put them back.

Hopefully they won’t stick. Living in the Texas Hill country, and always garaged, they’ve been subjected to very little in the way of harsh conditions-other than “Hell-like” heat. Much better than when lived in New England or Milwaukee.

Good on no salt then. Still likely dissimilar metals, possibly steel and aluminum, certainly different steels, but should come apart. Still seems like the suggested tool might be worth it. Torque down a few turns and "pop" it comes loose.

I had to buy the tool for another car. Wiper arms can be a pain in the A to take off.
