Removal of the rotary shift bezel

Has anyone removed the rotary shift bezel yet? I’m going to put an auxiliary switch in the lower section for my new RC 6” grille lights. I’m hoping there’s some room behind there. I’m planning on using a 16mm lighted push button switch

Someone in another fb forum suggested getting a garage door receiver and code it to the buttons on my visor. If that works, it’s brilliant. Gonna try it

I put mine here. It's pretty tight without a dremel. The area directly below the knob has very little/no room for extras.
