Maybe this is a pipe dream, but is there a way to record the surround cameras to some sort of hard drive that could be installed? Instead of buying a dash cam system and running the cables, it just seems like someone (much smarter than me) could come up with a way to tap into the already existing cameras and record from those. Just wondering...

That would be a good idea. I know this is possible but have no idea how to go about it. With sentry mode turned on, Tesla records video of its surrounding...

that would involve jailbreaking your uconnect (which i don't think anyone does), change the coding, then solder connectors and stuff for hard drive.

that sounds a lot more work and expensive than just put in an aftermarket system tbh

There is a product you can buy and install a DVR into the system that uses the camera.
I believe it was around $400-600.
if I remember the brand\link I will post it here.

You kept your existing radio though, this was just something that connected in being it I believe.
