I'm working on a list of mods that I eventually want to put on my Rebel . High on that list are 35's, and whatever I need to do to the suspension to fit them. Seems like the go-to here is the Daystar/Revel combo. I've read both good and concerning feedback on these forums. I'm a fairly new truck owner, so suspension lifts are a complete unknown for me. I have what will likely be basic or previously covered questions, but I'm still fuzzy to some specifics on lifts and air suspension. Seems like there's a lot of knowledgeable on here but some discussions go right over my head. Answers and opinions are greatly appreciated:
- The Rebel already "has a 1 inch lift". Is this effectively a longer shock/strut with the Air system set for 4 height settings rather than 5? If not, what am I missing?
- Are people putting in new UCA's when they lift using spacers and links? If not, should they? To me it's similar to other lifts on steel springs in that regard, right?
- Is there any loss or gain in suspension travel in the spacer/link combo?
- What are the experiences with CV joints after spacer/link lifts are done? Are they failing prematurely?
- Do you need a 3rd party app or software to reprogram the ride settings? Or is it all mechanical?
- I'm expecting to need different rims to fit the tires without rubbing. Will I also need to cut anywhere? No... not going with 37's... yet.
