Hi everyone, I am new to the forums, as well as first time RAM owner. I bought a 2019 Rebel with 38,000 miles on it with 5.7 and UConnect 8.4”. She’s just like new, inside and out. Not even scratched yet lol. I searched the forums for the issue I’m having and couldn’t find a thread exactly like my issue, although there are a few slightly similar but without resolution. Ok, on to my issue…

I am a HUGE music guy and my phone connected via Bluetooth playing through Apple Music sounds fantastic. The issue is when using CarPlay…with all eq settings exactly the same both on the phone and in the truck, when you turn the volume up the audio sounds like total garbage. It sounds like playing music in a tin…any bass distorts lyrics and no adjustment I make can compare to just Bluetooth. I have tried multiple cables and all with the same result. I really want to enjoy CarPlay but the audio is just so bad I just can’t.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, what was the resolution, or even some ideas to try to help.

I can’t thank you all enough in advance..I look forward to being a member here!

Talked with some Ram Uconnect specialists on the phone today, he said Uconnect is only compatible with iOS 15.6.1 and anything before that, that’s why we are having issues. I have an old iPhone 7 Plus with iOS 14.4 and it didn’t give me any issues. So I’m assuming that’s the problem. I did talk to a service advisor at a dealership today, he said Ram is releasing an update for Uconnect at the beginning of 2023.
But as to why we are having issues it’s because Uconnect just isn’t compatible with iOS 16 yet.

This makes the most sense I’ve seen regarding this topic so far. I hope they really do release an update, it is a shame a 3 year old truck with 38k miles is outdated for iPhone. I understand technology is an ever evolving topic, I just wish they had planned on this back before iOS update releases just as app developers do. Still love the truck so far, just looked forward to CarPlay and it’s been a let down thus far. Let’s see what the future brings as far as updates to Uconnect. Thank you so much for your research and answer!

That’s what I got out of my countless hours of research. I’m looking forward to this update by Ram along with them being compatible with iOS 16 in the near future!

So I was using an old iPhone 7 Plus with iOS 14.4, which according to Ram, should be compatible with Uconnect 8.4. Well the same issues started to occur that I am having with my iPhone 12 with iOS 16.1.2. So this is definitely a Ram/Uconnect issue. I’m really hoping they get this issues figured out asap. We spend anywhere from 38k-60k on these trucks. We should not be having issues.
