I have the bug to get a rebel hood for my Laramie. The plastic inserts on the hood, I want them chrome. Just so it goes with the rest of my truck.

Question is this. Would it be easier to get wrapped, or chrome painted? At ideas on cost for those parts to get done?

Once I order/receive parts I am going to cut out the backs of them to make them functional. Pic included. 2019-ram-1500-rebel-hood-by-mopar-3.jpg

Hmm.

I was wondering if hydro-dipping would work?
I found this on youtube.

If you go with chrome be prepared to be completely blinded anytime the sun is out. And that driver side vent is directly over the fuse box, so I don't know if you'd want all that water going into your engine bay.

Thanks for the info! Didnt know what would be under each louver so I will proceed with caution.

If the cowl piece was chrome, would it reflect into the cab that much? Never sat in a truck with this hood before.

With all the angles and curves in those pieces there is bound to be a surface that will reflect into your eyes.

This is what mine looks like and I’ve kept it chrome like to blend with my tri colored theme of my Laramie.CA6DDEC4-971E-4C3B-A847-D50ABC410DC9.jpeg5B235092-7472-462E-8794-0D9D5370D538.jpeg5B235092-7472-462E-8794-0D9D5370D538.jpeg

It seems the ones in the US come chrome and the Canada ones are black from my understanding. Although I found later that I could get all black from AvondaleAutomotive in Las Vegas via Josh..

Been hearing a lot of good things from them. I have an email out to him as we speak.

Well, it isn't for me in any way, but if you want them chrome hydrodip is what will look legitimately like it was supposed to be that way. The process is finished by way of topcoating with clear coat. Just be sure you tell them your purpose so it's a quality UV stable clear. Between hood, paint, and dipping, you're inching on a $2500 investment.

You ordering from the dealer or rockauto?

Part 68276297AA ?? Also does the hood already come with the plastic pieces or is this a separate order?

I was anticipating 1k for the job. But I I havent gotten quotes for paint yet. Have to find a place that hydro dips around here also.
