Rear window replacement.

My rear sliding window has recently formed the cracks that is notorious for these trucks so my question is has anyone had a OEM replacement put in by Dodge and does it last longer than the original and are they designed different? Or am I better off going with aftermarket that way? It doesn’t happen again?

I would think so I have a 2022 that is leaking too so it hasnt been corrected unfortunately they are not warrantying the 2022s

Hard to say if the new one will last longer. Some folks have gotten a 1 piece back glass, and some like myself permatex seal the hell out of the everything

My 2020 had the crack. Went to a Ram dealership and had it replaced with OEM. 2 years and still fine

stating the obvious but the older models were given an extended warranty to replace the glass and the newer models are still experiencing the issue should be included in an extension as well

That extended warranty is no longer a replacement, it is a seal the window. FYI.

Right. Then FCA decided to not actually fix anything.

which is why this is the last Ram I will own, they have done nothing to remedy the leak, the cracked manifolds, etc etc at least Ford has resolved many issues that were plaguing their Ecoboost engines

That is debatable. Is there still a water leak after it is resealed?

I also think the glass should be replaced, that is the correct repair in my opinion. I also think they have a cutoff date of 9/30/2020 for a reason. I would go as far to say if you have a good relationship with your dealer they would goodwill the repair.

It depends on where the leak is coming from. If it's cracks in the frame, resealing the glass wont help. Replacing the whole rear window is the correct procedure. However, if it's replaced with the same type, who knows if it will leak again.

Once the high failure rate was realized, FCA should have told the rear window manufacturer to rectify their faulty design, or at least found a new company to provide rear windows.

If the water can't get pass the glass and body, how will it leak? There are many on here that have sealed their windows with no leaks.

Because they sealed the plastic frame from the outside also. I've done this also.

I gotta get into my dealer for the Active Air Dam CEL/U11E9 problem so wondering if I should have them mess with it. I have the warranty extension for both issues. Any thoughts?

On my 2019, the original back window had mold lines where the cracks formed. The replacement did not have the mold lines.

If the window frame is cracked, yes have them seal it per the new coverage repair. Depending on the dealer, they may seal it up just because they can(if you ask them about it) and it prevents another visit for a simple job.

LOL. My 2019 meets all the criteria on the XL1 warranty extension and yet XL1 is not applied to my VIN. Ram Customer Care won't / can't give me an answer. I sealed the window myself.

This warranty extension bulletin applies only to the following vehicles:

• DT vehicles built on or before September 30, 2023 (MDG 0930XX) equipped with a Rear Power Sliding Window (Sales Code GFE) or Rear Sliding Window (Sales Code GFD).

Well warranty tried to seal it but didn’t work now they say all they can do is replace the windshield at my cost. What a joke Ram is for this. They should take pride in their work and fix this issue.
