I need to haul a 2x2x2 ft cube of metal weight 500 pounds, considering this is not a spread load would it bend and dent bed floor. I will use a pcs of plywood to help spread the load. Did anyone have experience hauling point load when weight is not spread/distributed ?

You could always put down a piece of plywood then 4x4 cribbing then place the load on that. It would be pretty much the same thing that's done under crane arms when lifting a load. Doing this will spread the load over the 4x4's.

I wouldn't sweat it. Your bed can easily withstand a 200 lb person standing on one boot heel (without denting). As long as you have at least a couple of pieces of dunnage under it, you'll be fine.

500 lbs is approximately 1/3 of the trucks capacity, nothing to sweat about. I would put over the axle or up against the cab

Yeah...and strap the heck out of it. Imagine what that would do to the back of a cab or a tailgate.
