Hey everybody,

I've got a 2020 Ram Limited 1500 that I purchased about 3.5 years ago from the local dealership. I've had 2 issues with it so far. 1st the dash bubbled up and I took it back and 2 or 3 days later they had it ready. Fully covered under warranty. Then, a couple years later, the exhaust manifold had a leak at startup. I stopped by and they said, yes, it's covered under factory warranty, but I had like 6 more months to take care of it. The guy was helpful and said bring it back when I was ready. Ok, I ended up waiting till the warranty was almost over, hoping maybe the other side would leak and would only have to take it in once for both manifolds.

When I went back, the new guy wasn't as nice, but no big deal. Asked if I had an appointment. I didn't. But said, ok, you can leave it, but will not be ready on Monday (it was Friday) I said that's fine.

They sent me a text same day so I could text or they could text updates, a way to communicate. I text the next Wednesday if they had had time to check the truck. "No sir, we haven't got to it yet"

Then, the next Monday I stop by, 10 days after I left it, to check on it. The guy was like, no, we have 14 ahead of you. Ok, thanks.

Text again a few days later asking for an update, no reply. Waited 4 days, text again, no reply.

It's going on 3 weeks since I left it. Can anyone shed some light on what is going on? The dash replacement took 2 or 3 days and I didn't make an appointment. I'm getting the feeling they are trying to blow off the legitimate claim I have and get me to come get the truck. I guess times are getting pretty bad to lose a customer who bought a 70k truck a few years ago over a $500 claim. I don't know, I'm at a loss. Guess I'll just have to go and get it and thank them for their time

Both of my exhaust manifolds have cracked, one side at 48k, the other at 70k. I called the dealer, drove it till the parts came in and dropped it off then. Each time was done by the end of the day. Maybe the dealer is backed up or waiting on parts, but i don't think it takes long to get them now. My first time took 4 months to get them but that was when they were on backorder. I would ask them why it's taking so long and if they aren't going to get it in anytime soon, pick up your truck and drive it till they can get it in or go to another dealer. It doesn't hurt driving with them cracked for abit, just really annoying.

Mine is only noticeable at startup, for about 20 or 30 seconds and goes away as the metal heats and seals the gap. I've told them that and the 1st guy was like, yeah, you'll have to leave it overnight so we can test it cold. Not a problem. And told me I had another 6 months and could bring it later if I wanted. Sounded fairly quick and easy, the way he made it out.

I took it back like 3 days before the warranty was out, figured why not, it wasn't bothering me much. So now, if I tried to change dealers, it's out of warranty. I actually paid an extra $30/month for an extended warranty that I'm not sure if would cover that or not, although it should. I wasn't too clear on details, but it was offered when I signed the paperwork and I took it.

What's kinda funny is my birthday is coming up and my salesman sends me a happy birthday text every year. I told him thanks and asked him why it's taking so long. He hasn't text back either 🤣 I bet if I text I wanted a new truck, he'd be tripping over his feet to text me back, lol

Mine was the same way and also had to leave it with them the 1st time so it they could hear it cold, 2nd time they didn't even question it. Most dealers will still warranty an issue after the warranty is up as long as it was reported before the warranty was up. I would talk to them and see if they will honor the warranty since you told them about it before your warranty was up, even if it was only 3 days.

I would have done it myself but mine was still under warranty. I've done quit afew broken manifold bolts on 4th gens and they aren't too bad, can't imagine the 5th gens are any worse. Just traded broken bolts for cracked manifolds..haha.

Yep, I'm a mechanic by trade and got a ton of tools. I did a little YouTube University on how to do it and then they said they'd take care of it, so why not let them do it

There was a serious heat wave right after I left it and I left a note saying please put sun shade in windshield when parked outside, thanks. When I stopped by 10 days later, it was in the windshield, but it was backwards, (reflective side facing in, not out) and they didn't put the sun visors out to keep it against the glass. I fixed it and noticed the instrument gauge plastic insert had popped loose from the heat. So my dash #2 is likely screwed now too. It's about $5-600 just for the dash I think. Looks cool when new, last about 1 year

I agree, if they will do it under warranty, no reason to spend your own money and time.

I'm gonna have to go up there tomorrow and kindly ask them wtf is going on. If they "haven't got to it yet" I'll ask them to spare me 2 minutes to go out and put their ear beside the wheel when I crank it so they can hear the leak. So I can get my truck. Seems really shady to me how they're dealing. They should know it takes just a few minutes to diagnose and can start the claim without me having to leave the truck so long. Or for me having to explain this to them. I highly doubt I'll buy anything else up there. Just silly
