I already am aware of the poor MPG's of a truck. My question revolves around the different levels. I keep reading that Rebel has the worst, why is that? Is it the rims or types of tires they come with? I like the look of the Rebel better than the Big Horn and Larime and have no plans to take it off road. I'm really torn between the models, but if the mileage is better by a significant amount between the models that will help sway my decision.

33" duratracs with 3.92 gearing in the rebel vs let's say 32" all season tires with 3.21 gearing in a laramie. Size and type of tire plus gearing are going to your biggest factors (assuming you're comparing between v8s)

And the Rebel's slight lift doesn't help in the aero dept.

Best bet is reducing weight by avoiding 4wd, lift, oversized wheels/tires, larger fuel tank, pano roof, etc but even then like you say it's still a truck.

I’ve gotten 26 MPG in mine but the speed limit here is 60 MPH . So if you keep your speed down you can get decent mileage out of the Rebel .

Lift/wheel size and tires is usually why the off-road packages get less gas mileage.
