Your Ram does indeed have an OBDII port, but it is better to power a radar detector from a switched fusebox circuit.I would like to hardwire a radar detector to my 2025 Ram Rebel but I am seeing it has no OBDII port. Is there a way to do this?
It does? I haven't looked but I googled it and it said it doesn't. I guess I could actually go look!Your Ram does indeed have an OBDII port, but it is better to power a radar detector from a switched fusebox circuit.
Steve
And what it the advantage of powering it from the fusebox? It does? I haven't looked but I googled it and it said it doesn't. I guess I could actually go look!
leaves your OBD port open and if using any ignition keyed slot if something goes you won't be really messing with your diagnostic port. i get paid to do installs (lights, switches, dash cams, radar detectors, lift kits, outfitting etc) and repairs and i always get power from fuse panel. My thinking is if something shorts, with add-a-fuse at least the added fuse will blow and disconnect before it spread to other things, but if it's connected to the obd port, it not only adds extra step when plugging in a reader but also CAN (not saying it will, but it CAN, depending on user and age of the vehicle) mess with the port as well. And what it the advantage of powering it from the fusebox?
Well. You could read your owner's manual. It's in there. It does? I haven't looked but I googled it and it said it doesn't. I guess I could actually go look!
