Good Morning,

I bought a new-to-me 2019 Laramie with lots of bells and whistles and wanted to know if the previous owners had installed the cat-back or another aftermarket exhaust. It seems loud but my last car was an Explorer haha so I'm new to having much exhaust note at all.

The tips don't look overly custom as they are a stainless finish. I was going to just look under the car but is there anything I should specifically look for to determine if the system was stock or had been ordered cat-back from the factory / or if it had been added later?

Thanks everyone and glad to be a new member of the RAM crew!

I would look for any names on muffler for starters. The OEM muffler is fairly larger compared to most aftermarket muffler. There is flange connection before the muffler and the OEM is welded after the muffler, many aftermarket mufflers have slip joint connection after the muffler. If your still not sure post a pic here and so one should be able to give you a answer.

The stock systems are pretty darn quite in my opinion. But you will find that exhaust opinions are very subjective. Take a look under the truck. The stock system has a LARGE round muffler somewhere around the mid point of the truck then two resonators - one for each side of the exhaust before the tip.

Take a pic and post - we'll help ya out.

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on your new ride.

it further saddens me that they did fakey duals... ya killin me dodge

Most OEM exhausts are not true duals, especially on non-sports cars. I don't think there's much difference between the two (especially with a stock powerplant) other than the vehicle manufacturer can save some coin on some piping and a second muffler while still charging you the same price for the vehicle.

I'm not a dual exhaust fan (true dual or not) but do like that it exits tight to the bumper instead of the side. Ford doesn't even put a tip on theirs. They just cut the exhaust pipe at the quarter panel.
