Anybody having as many problems as me? I bought the truck brand new drive it home on Saturday. The following Thursday it wouldn’t crank so I unhooked the battery let it reset hooked it back up and it cranked and did fine. Got back to the house and would only shut the engine off and not the power. The button would stay on accessory. So I unhooked the battery again with no luck the next day the battery was dead would crank had to boost it off. Now it wouldn’t Crank again saying it wasn’t in Park. Got it to go in gear finally and it would move a foot or so in forward or reverse and throw the park brake on. The next day it cranked up did fine but the back up camera or Xm radio did not work and still would turn all the way off. I called the dealer they told me to bring it in the next day. But that night the rear end went out and would just grind and not pull. Now They can’t get parts till the 19th of September and they’ve already had the truck a month and it’s got 800 miles on it

Lemon law it.

If they've had the truck in their possession for a month, you're likely within the lemon law timeframe due to their inability to resolve the issues in a timely manner. @alacombe is the resident lemon law expert.

Yes, if a dealership has your truck for 30 days for if you bring your truck to an FCA certified dealer 4 times for the same problem in the 1st year of ownership your qualify for lemon law. private message me for info

hey @alacombe - this must be turning into quite a lucrative side business. :)

Bought the truck new Saturday and had these issues in 5 days and they have had the truck back for a month??? I don't understand how that is possible.

It’s not the dealers fault they can’t get the parts for it because they are so new

I was saying I bought the truck on a Saturday and that following week I had all these problems and they have had it at the dealer since the 28th of July

The reason the parts aren't available isn't the important part when it comes to lemon law, the timeframe is the important part.

Here's a good overview, just select your state for details: https://www.dmv.org/automotive-law/lemon-law.php.

I went through the lemon law process with a Kia in 2012. An engine component had cracked and replacement parts were severely backordered (I think that's when there was massive flooding in Korea, but I'm not sure if that actually was the issue). The dealership had my vehicle for 40 some odd consecutive days before I sent Kia the letter and CCed the dealership. After some pretty quick back and forth after that initial letter, I got a refund. I bought the vehicle in April and got the refund in July. I ended up getting refunded by Kia the full amount minus the payments I'd made while the vehicle was in my possession. I also got an additional refund from the dealer for rental charges, since they didn't supply me with a rental or a loaner while my vehicle was in their shop, never mind that I made two monthly payments on a vehicle I didn't even have in my possession...

The parts shortage was totally out of the dealer's hands, but that didn't matter for lemon law purposes.

Side note, I'm pretty sure the dealership only gave me a refund of rental fees since I'd mentioned that in my letter to Kia, since they hadn't budged one bit when I'd asked for at least some rental assistance since they wouldn't let me drive my own vehicle. I'd told Kia in my letter that I'd paid >$1k for a vehicle I didn't have in my possession and had also paid >$700 for a rental for the same period since the dealership wouldn't give me a loaner and had repeatedly refused to provide any rental assistance.
