Power folding mirror keeps trying to open after it’s already fully open

I just replaced my tow mirrors/door modules with standard mirrors and new door modules, then added the codes via alfaodb (I couldn’t have done it without reading through all of the helpful posts in this forum).

It’s technically working - both doors open and close. I don’t have any concerns with the passenger side. The drivers door seems to make a click and then catches to close, no big deal. But after the drivers side is fully open, the mirror continues to try to keep opening and actually jolts the entire mirror like you physically push it beyond where it wants to be. It snaps back to the right spot, but that’s only after about 8 seconds of hearing it struggle to open after it’s already open! It just needs to stop trying to keep opening! I can only imagine how rough this is on the internal plastic gears

After all of this research/work/expense, I don’t want to mess this thing up. Any help or advice is appreciated.

My pop up headlights in my 1998 Trans AM would do that when the gear stripped. The gear is plastic and may have lost a tooth or two or wore out prematurely. That may be the reason it continues to try and turn.
