Every thread I’ve found on theirs seems to end abruptly with no answers.

When I plug my iPhone 16 Plus into my pax screen via a USB-C to HDMI cable, the pax screen doesn’t recognize anything is connected. Do I need a special adaptor, as opposed to just the cable? I see the goofy white adaptors on Amazon, but I’m not sure they do anything the cable doesn’t ..

Conversely, when I plug my laptop in via a standard HDMI, I get video, but I can’t figure out how to get audio out of the truck speakers. Is that an option, or will it play audio via headphones only? Headphones work …

Okay, this is solved. I wanted to close it here for the next person, since there seems to be very little knowledge on this on the interwebz.

1) My iPhone wasn't playing video over the passenger entertainment screen because the cable didn't work for that. I don't know if another 'USB-C to HDMI' cable would have worked bettter. I suspect it is hit-or-miss. But, this adaptor definitely fixed the issue and allowed a regular HDMI cable to do the trick: Amazon.com

********* Note, however, Netflix still wouldn't play. I *think* I read somewhere that's a security feature specific to Netflix to crack down on screen sharing, but I don't know. All other streaming services I tried played just fine from my phone using the above adapter. This includes Paramount+, Prime Video, Peacock, Tubi, Youtube, and Max.

2) As for audio, my iPhone by default sends audio over the HDMI cable to the passenger entertainment screen. From there, the only option to hear that audio is via Bluetooth from the pax screen to headphones. There is no setup to route the audio back to the main truck stereo and speakers. That's why @Sgerry assumed that headphones are the only sound option.

HOWEVER, on the iPhone, you can tap the 'Airplay' button and tell it to send audio via it's Bluetooth link to the truck. So, at that point, you get the movie's audio playing over the truck Bluetooth simultaneously with the video routing through the HDMI to the passenger screen. It's way more convoluted that it should be, but it ultimately works.
