I have a 2021 Ram Big Horn. My truck turned up with a parasitic draw about 5 months ago while camped in Silverton, CO. I originally thought it was a bad starter, so replaced the starter. The new starter did not start the truck. Using a jump box, I got the truck started and got home so thought I just had a bad battery. During this multiple hour drive, the truck drove fine with no UConnect issues.
I took the old (now removed) starter to get tested — it tested just fine. I returned home to put the factory starter back on the truck. After replacing the starter, the UConnect began having issues. The UConnect seems to be stuck in a continuous reboot — it never gets totally “on.”
I took the truck to Batteries Plus and got the batteries replaced — one battery had a bad cell. Batteries Plus thought the UConnect would eventually reboot and begin working properly.
Over the last several months, the parasitic draw is still present. If I do not drive the truck every couple days, the battery dies. When I do drive the truck, the UConnect cycles on and off with continuous reboots. I have been unable to determine if the parasitic draw and UConnect issues are related or if their timing is coincidental.
