Hello All,

Long time reader, first time poster. I recently picked up my 2025 Ram 1500 Laramie Sport and cannot be more in love with the truck. I upgraded from a 2020 bighorn and honestly the differences our night and day. Not to mention that the 3.0. Hurricane gives the Hemi a run for its money. I have some upgrades on lighting that I’m trying to accomplish. I’m looking for some assistance.

I purchased an under the tailgate light bar from OPT7 which has the integrated running, break and turn signals. I tried using the Curtis trailer hitch splitter and splitting behind the seven pin connector however that left me with constant error messages for my Blindspot monitoring and trailering system. Is there an easy workaround for this? Is it possible to hardwire this in directly somewhere?

I also purchased a set of OPT7 running board lights. These have integrated running lights, sequential, turn signals and a strobe feature. When I go to tie in the running lights to the turn signal wires, I noticed that they are being controlled by the brake? Is there a workaround for this?

It is because the truck thinks there is a trailer connected. I am working on the exact same issue. OPT7 has a wiring harness for the F150 for this issue but it requires you to connect the light lar to the tail lights. My 21 didn't do that, but it could explain why when I would have an actual trailer connected, my blind spot detection didn't work correctly all the time. The new CANBUS system on the 22+ has the BLIS system similar to the F150's that once there is a load on the trailer connection it thinks there is a trailer connected and thus pretends there is. Causing issues with error messages and the warning indicators that there is a problem with the trailer lights (not enough electrical load). Stay tuned I have some ideas. ;-)
