Opt7 led strip light

Has anyone installed a strip light under the tailgate for you 2019 ram? I just bought one but there is the plastic piece that looks like a splash shield of sorts that also hold the connector to the reverse camera. Anybody have any tips?

There's a thread on it and it seem people used spacers to get around the connector.
