OEM Wheel painting and inserts - Problem!?

Hello guys,

Since this year I´m a proud owner of a 2020 RAM 1500. Now I want to paint my oem wheels all black and have to remove the plastic chrome inserts on them to paint everything separately.

Do anybody know how they are mounted on the wheels???

There are no screws and when I tried to put them off with a plastic lever they hold very well and didn´t come off...

I am assuming the inserts are held on by an adhesive expanding foam, as most of the OEM wheels covers are. They would most likely be destroyed by trying to remove them. Mask and paint may be the only practical way.
