Odd AC experience, is it a RAM thing?

Over the Labor Day holiday week we drove from Phoenix AZ to Durango CO, 980 miles round trip. AC on the entire drive, because it’s hot as hell out, with recirculate activated the entire time. Several times on the drive up and back we noticed the sound of more wind or air coming from under the dash and a change in the output of the AC. This lasted about a minute and you could hear it “close” and go back to as it was.

this week drove down to Tucson and it did it once on the way down and back. Is this normal for the system, perhaps something to do with avoiding moisture buildup or freezing up?

Thanks all

That's normal.

The why is the mystery. I suspect it is to keep the evaporator from icing up, others think it's to prevent a buildup of CO2. Whichever, it brings in some outside air. I've tried to get ramcares to ask Chrysler engineers, but it turns out they're completely useless.

Has nothing to do with freezing up, the compressor cycle controls the evaporator temps. It is bringing in fresh air into the cab, normal

Thanks guys, that was my other though was to bring fresh air into the cabin.
