I popped my hood the other day and noticed that there was no automtic light like there was in my 2012 and 2014 Rams ? is this a trim level option ?

I don't think so—or at least I don't recall seeing one on my Longhorn. GM ditched the underhood lights to save $$ in the early '00s...maybe Ram is doing the same.

I'm pretty sure they stopped having them standard several years ago. I know my 17 didn't have one either. If I remember correctly, they can be ordered and installed fairly easily. I'm pretty sure there is a thread over at ramforumz(sp?) that tackles this subject.

I noticed that to. Cost cutting. Not that I thought it was of any use. I guess FCA agreed.

Went to adjust my headlights tonight... would've been nice to have a light under the hood like my 16. Oh well, still a way better truck and I will happily do without to ward off karma.

My 2017 Sport had one; my new 2019 Laramie doesn’t.
Guess reliability is such, that RAM no longer sees a need to look under the hood at night, on a lonely backroad, in the dead of winter, with no cell service...

While I agree there should be a light.
I purchased one of these few years ago Pocket Juice Extreme phone charger/flashlights for about $20 at wallyworld. I got the green camo to give me Army flashback of my younger days!!!
Plus one of these as I used it to provide power inside of the junk yard for some of my project stuff like the window regulators etc... to see if item works before removing buying and keep it in truck in case need jump or help someone ($99):
