Greetings,
Formerly 2016 JKU Hard Rock owner. 4 years of wheeling experience on blues and blacks. JKU fell apart at 60,000 miles. 75k total money spent (mods +47 k purchase price new). After being in the shop for 1-month of rebuilding axles and suspension work and having to rent a vehicle over this period of time, I traded my JKU in for a new Ram Rebel in 2018.
The day after I bought the Rebel, I took it wheeling. I was not used to the extreme geometry differences between a full size stock pickup truck and a heavily modified JKU hard rock and as such , pancaked the truck causing 20k in damages. Thank the Lord for State Farm auto-insurance.
I dislike FORD products and have been waiting from Ram to come out with a Raptor equivalent since the Raptor came to market. I am very excited about the TRX but may not be able to afford one. I like my Rebel a lot, however am considering the AEV lift, as 4 inches and 35's would really be nice for wheeling. I weary of modifications now, after what happened with my Jeep. I paid experts to install the parts and when things fail in a domino effect, cascade effect manor, your left with an open tab, unknown estimate of repair cost, and without a vehicle to drive to work.
