New here...Remote tailgate release question.

Hi all I am new to the forums and owner of a new 2023 Bighorn 1500. I have a question and yes I searched everywhere on here for it. My truck did not come with remote start from the factory but I was able to activate it by buying a 5 button remote, having it programmed by a locksmith and using AlfaObd to activate the remote start feature and that works great. Only thing that doesn't work is the tailgate release...from what I have read it should automatically activate with this remote. I do have the dampers...Am I missing something? Also can't for the life of me get the tailgate ajar light to come on on my dash. Thanks for any info you guys can give me.

You probably don't have the correct hardware to make it work. I know some vehicles didn't have it installed. Mostly the newer ones as my 2020 worked with it. Maybe @Jimmy07 can help.

The 2023 bighorns don’t have the tailgate ajar function. It requires a different harness and passenger side tailgate release. And then of course, a simple programming change. I did it to my 2023 bighorn. As i recall, it was less than $100.

Do you know what the harness is called? And is it a passenger side latch system? Thanks trying to look it up online and not sure what to search for. Found a small harness with like 2 plugs on it for $20, not sure if that’s it

Which fob did you end up purchasing? Was it just the FCC ID that matched your original 3-button fob?

I got one of Amazon and it worked for the remote start.. I was going to copy and paste the link for you, but apparently it’s not available anymore when I click on it. They must be sold out.
