Hello all....I have 2019 1500 Ltd. On my navigation, sometimes it shows Speed in Miles instead of KMs (I am in Canada), especially on one specific road.....it shows 43 (I assume its Miles) since the speed limit is 70 KM/Hr on this road. My navigation setting already has KMH selected. I re-set navigation when I bought it few months ago.

I asked the dealer if maybe an update was required and they directed me to a website. I went to this website and it said that for my model / year, there is no update available. I still have less than 61,000 KM on it and bought extended Warranty so curious to know if update (if available) might be covered under extended Mopar warranty?

Unrelated question but was curious: How do dealers get paid if they have to work on cars under warranty? Over the years I noticed they don't usually up-sell under warranty and in fact downplay some stuff.

Sounds to me like a glitch with Tom Tom. The navigation is in Ram's radio, but the software is Tom Tom's. There are always mistakes in navigation. I have many roads I drive that the listed speed is wrong, or roads are missing, or shown that don't exist. I only use as reference, and ignore the mistakes, but you could try contacting Tom Tom, to see if there is a fix.

They get paid per the job with a set time.

If Ram says it takes 1 hour to do the job, they get an hour of of pay.
If they screw ball it up and take 2 hours, they still get 1 hour of pay.
Only takes them 15 minutes? Still paid for 1 hour.

Good mechanics like it because they can get the jobs done quicker, worse mechanics, not so much.

It's rate but I know some jobs claim they use way less time then to actually takes also.

When you pay out of pocket, they change you a premium rate, and way more then what the job actually requires so they make lots more money.

I used to be a Master Certified Chrysler dealership mechanic. There are very few jobs that take much less than warranty time. The dealer I worked for was close to Chrysler headquarters, so some of our mechanics were used for time study. They would actually have parts replaced in a mockup, but would not have everything there. The mechanic would do it multiple times, and they would use the fastest time. There were a few jobs that you could figure out a shortcut and make money, but not many. They use a different time book for warranty and customer pay. At least that's how it was 40 years ago.

If you have a smart phone, screen mirror waze or google maps.
Only thing that was really nice with factory nav. was the intersection/exit zoom in.

Funny you talk about the intersection\exit zoom in.
On my UC5 80% of the time it "loses me" and instead of showing a dot, it shows a .25 mile wide circle of where I might be. If I change pages and go back to nav I get the dot back of where I actually am.
It's fine for most exits, but for complex exits, it makes it impossible to navigate and it doesn't show where i actually am and the route gets hidden under the circle.

I am referring to the "actual" intersection/exit view of the overhead signs and lane choices. This was on my 4C NAV. when it still worked. It was really cool.
