With a Tacoma Prerunner Dbl. cab Sport with a gvwr of #5350 and Max tow rating of # 6,500 and the dry weight of # 5,210 with a GVWR of #7,000 on our Coachmen Apex 250RLS. I can most definitely say, that our new Big Horn Lonestar Sport should be lots more safer when towing. Ram is gvwr #6,900, payload capacity of #1,850 , tow rating of #8,440, and gcwr of #13,900. I'm so looking forward to our first trip out this year. It's a new year with my first Ram and I'm so happy I chose a great looking new Ram!

Congrats!

The Tacoma is pretty worthless for towing anything more then a teardrop or mini imho.

My trailer has similar numbers, #4,500 dry, #7,000 GVWR. And it’s about as big as I want to tow with a half ton. Anything larger and I’d want a diesel truck.

I agree. My general rule of thumb is 75% of max towing capacity. Can you tow more? Yes. Are you going to like towing more? Probably not, at least not where hills are involved.

I think my new rig is going to tow my 5200 (dry) camper really well. My 2003 Expedition did an admirable job, but loaded up it would have been pushing it.

Yes, I'll be glad to give report on my upgrade to the ram. I've been towing the Apex with the midsize Tacoma for 3 yrs now. We purchased our Apex in 16' new and began towing, traveling around 8,500 miles till we decided to go ahead and upgrade to a half ton. I'm anticipating on a great response from our new ram!
