Found this 16 min video on YouTube where this experienced ex Chrysler tech talks about the MDS system and how it works and if it causes any damage to your engine. If you want to jump ahead to the 12:20 mark, he talks about simply pressing the shift control button upon every start to lock in 8th gear with NO MDS, which many do. Interesting at the least..............

While both GM LS-based V8s, and Hemis, seem to have issues with chewing up cams and lifters, it only affects the LS stuff with MDS.
Hemis seem to not care. From what I've read/heard, they can *all* apparently chew up cams and lifters if allowed to idle extensively.
I have almost 50K on my 2019 5.7 with MDS. I have had exactly zero issues, even after reading others' posts complaining.
I also added a Flowmaster FlowFX. No drone to speak of.
The MDS switches in and out unobtrusively. Even works at times that I wouldn't expect. (I look down and see the light illuminated, and go "oh". :D )
