I am contemplating using this lowering kit on my 2020 Big Horn 4wd. It is adjustable to 3" drop in the front and 4" in the rear. I have read most of the reviews on this kit and most are not positive, but it seems to only apply to the rear being choppy and hitting the bump stops. Could this issue be resolved with the addition of air bags in the springs or different shocks for the rear? I want to lower my truck but I don't want to sacrifice the ride quality that I have now. I do already have the 2" drop springs in the rear now, and it rides just like stock. I am not opposed to the IHC kit but I don't really want to go that low. Oh, I have also rear that you can't use aftermarket exhaust with the MT kit? I already have a Magnapack mid muffler with the stock resonators.

I just ordered a pieced together Maxtrac. Going to be more expensive but better, I believe, in the long run. 4" is a lot of drop in the back of these trucks. I think it's a combination of factory bump stops and cheap shocks that are included with their kit. I've been lowering vehicles for years and that is the cheapest I've ever seen for a complete kit.

I decided on a 2/3ish drop to avoid the usual issues with major rear drops. My biggest complaint with just going 2" rear is after they settle the truck always seems to ride a little nose high which looks dumb. You also can't haul anything without the rear squatting even worse. When empty it does ride pretty much like factory.

I went with rear 2" coils which I'll cut down to 3", plus adjustable panhard bar, shorter sway bar end links, and upgraded rear shocks. I'll report back within the next week on how this works out.

Edit: I also think the exhaust issue may not just be a maxtrac problem. When lowering a truck that much the rear axle is pulled that much closer to the frame which doesn't allow a lot of room for aftermarket exhausts. I can't imaging it has anything to do with the panhard bar placement; but possibly. Some panhards are bent for more clearance.

Why would It be more expensive to go this route? Seems like it would be cheaper really? Can you link to the stuff you got?

I am not wanting to "slam" mine either, though that does look damn good on this body style. I am not opposed to cutting on the 2" drop springs I already have to get another 1", I just need to find the right shock. I really like the idea of the drop strut that MaxTrac has, as it should ride pretty much stock since you are leaving the spring alone. So maybe a 2/3 drop is something I could achieve fairly easy.

Yeah I am not sure about the exhaust either, I seem to have a lot of room right now under mine and it's only dropped 2".

Trust me, not cheaper.

165 front struts, 155 rear springs, 150 panhard bar, 100 core4x4 links, 300 shocks. Total 850. A bit more than the kit. You could probably save a little on cheaper shocks but still more. That being said; should be a much better setup. I'll probably finish it off with a hellwig sway bar.

I'll add some links tomorrow.

Oh, I see now. Well I already have the rear springs so that would save me some money there. The rest don't seem too bad to me.

Where are you finding the panhard bar, sway bar end links and shocks?

I have the MaxTrac 2/4 lowering on my 4x2 and will say speedbump at any speed will hit bump stops in back. Slight rubbing in the front at full turn. I like how it looks and agree that the back shocks are **** and will try and measure them to see if I can replace with a 5100 or something equal to that quality.

It rubs with 2" drop in the front? Are you on aftermarket wheels with a funky offset?

Nope just regular stock 18". Rubs the inside plastic toward the bottom of the wheel well if that makes sense. I saw something on here where you can heat up the plastic and flex it inward toward the engine bay just a little and then it clears.

Are there any kits that will work with the factory AirRide? I would love for my truck to be as low as the one gsxrdoug posted

Panhard is from moes performance. Links from core 4x4. I'll have to dig up where shocks came from.

What shocks did you end up going with? I have the maxtrac 2/4 and really want to upgrade the rear shocks. I feel like they are the main issue with this kit. Everything else seems pretty solid. I also upgraded to an adjustable track bar which helped center the rear.

Take a look at Bilstein B6 4600 part# 24-228848. I have the 2" rear drop, Hellwig sway bar (with core 4x4 links) and they work very well with that combination

Think they'll be alright with a 4" drop in the rear. Those 2 inches can make a big difference (that's what she said)

Lol. Maybe an email to Bilstein would answer the question of travel limits of the shock or they have another version that would work in a -4" application

I have the 2" rear springs. They only gave me about 1 1/8" of actual drop. I hit bump stops on large dips and also hit my carven catback exhaust. So speaking of the exhaust at the full 4" of drop, there's ZERO chance that it won't hit. Matter of fact, I'll have to tack the joint over the axle. I've tightened the clamp multiple times and it keeps coming loose from the axle housing hitting it!. Just a heads up from personal experience.

I just installed the 2/4 kit on my 21 and want to upgrade rear shocks. Anyone ever figure out something good?

Borla exhaust also doesnt fit with this kit. I beleive there is a guy on one of the FB groups that is testing some Viking double adjustable shocks and front struts made specifically for lowered 5th gens. Also Belltech confirmed that they are developing a kit for our trucks but no idea on release date.

I have the 2/4 kit on 20 Laramie 4x4 and I also have the etorque system. This kit is awful in the rear! I have been sitting on my bump stops in the rear from about 30 miles after installation. On my 2nd set of springs from MT and still no luck. Shop that did the install is a distributor of MT products and I have a different ride height at every corner. Damn thing is almost squatting basically and all I have in the bed is my 22” as a spare and my golf bag and wrapping tools, a couple of heat guns and some tape. Maybe it’s this dang “Bak-Flip folding cover that is so heavy, I dunno but I am almost to a point of just putting a lift kit on it. I cannot physically take this beating much more and there is no help in site!!!!

And yes the PS mirror is DEMOLISHED!! Have another to install tomorrow

I mean it looks great but it rides like POOP AND I DREAD THIS 1500 mile trip in 6 days that I start tom

REALLY WISH THEY WOULD HAVE SOLD US SOMETHING THAT WOULD HAVE LASTED MORE THAN A TRIP TO THE CAR SHOW!!
