I have a check engine light on and the dealer told me the lower air dam is not responding and needs to be replaced. Now they say the part is on back order till at least august and that I have to drive around with a check engine light on till I replace the part. Is there any way of disconnecting the part to get the light off until I can get it replaced

I removed the active air dam on my wife's Limited over a year ago. She doesn't have a CEL. But she also didn't have a light before I removed it. You might just try unplugging it and resetting your ecu and see if the light comes back.

The active-bug-dam is pretty much useless. As others have said, maybe take it off all together. Then get someone with a OBDII scanner to clear the code and be done.
