Had my truck for less than 250 miles before a raccoon ran out in front of my at 5 am this morning. I hit it doing about 50mph and when I got to work noticed one side there was a plastic piece hanging down. After doing some research it the lower active air dam broke off from one of the arms on the side. So I go to the dealer and tell them which part specifically I need it thinking it wouldn't cost me more than $100 and they come back saying its $440 for the entire assembly, new motors, brackets and all. I went home frustrated and removed the piece that was hanging on by 2 screws. I think I may be able to retro fit the bracket. Does any one know how to get the air dam active while the car is parked so that I can see the arms extended. Here is a youtube video of the function and a picture of what I need to reattach.

There should be a factory option to have a fixed air dam instead on this power one (besdies opting for air suspention/OR package). Just another electronic gizmo to go wrong at some point.

Not sure why these two things happened simultaneously, but this little connector/sensor started leaking after the impact as well. It is located inside the front passenger wheel well. No clue what fluid it is.

That’s one of the reasons I leveled my truck and put on taller tires, that stupid air dam is closer to the ground than my wife’s little crossover SUV. Stupid to have a 4wd truck with 6” of clearance on the front bumper.

I agree with you on that. I made a split-second decision to aim the raccoon in between my tires. I thought I could clear it. I was wrong.
