Low fuel

2020 ram 5.7, 1500 having issues with restarting after fueling up . Although it shows 40 mile est but not empty. A few times check engine light comes on and hav to disconnect battery to reset. Local dealership says that’s just the way it is??

There have been numerous reports of vent hoses kinked and other issues with fill tubes.
If that's all the dealer wants to do, then find a new dealer. They should be able to diagnose and fix the issue

Actually the local dealer (San Marcos Dodge) said nothing was wrong. I took it back (bought it with 4500 mi) to the local Toyota dealer and their service head was from dodge 23yrs n said the fuel pump gets heated?? When you get below 1/4 tank...

If the check engine light comes on then they know where to start looking...I assume you still have the remainder of the bumper to bumper warranty?
Yes, the fuel in the tank cools the pump and the pump will get warmer when low on fuel but I wouldn't be that worried about it. I have not seen any fuel pump failures on here.

Thx, yes on wrnty. 3Xs in a row I’ve filled up, it turns over 3-6Xs then sluggishly starts. Check engine light has come on 4 out 6 last fill ups with trublecstart. Using quality mid oct gas btw

Hmm. Fuel accumulator? Maybe it's pushing a lot of fumes through the vent system and the engine is sucking it in and getting flooded?

For sure it only happens when you fill the tank up?

Take a look at fuelly. But mileage on these trucks is very dependent on your typical drive. A route change with more lights can drop 1mpg or more.

There was another thread on here recently in regards to needing the gas tank switched out. My guess is that or you keep trying to top up after the gas pump stops on its own...

Further info on topping off, perhaps the previous owner had a practice of topping off.
