Hey guys, I'm looking to add some light bars and other accessories to the truck. I have been looking at different control units to power all of them in one place inside the engine bay. I'm just trying to see how you have your AUX switches set up inside. Thanks

Buy the REBEL and get the sweet AUX switches installed at the factory :)

There are BLUETOOTH aftermarkets that others have installed on here (search button may work but it all depends on the wording you use) -

You can also scroll through the hundreds of links in the Modifications area :

Some added stock AUX buttons like the Rebel .. I'd LOVE to have them, but I have an entire row of switches already in my rig from the factory. I purchased a 3-button setup (should have gotten a 4-button) and placed it in the "hidden" storage area in the bottom of the center console.

Your signature line is empty, and I more than likely missed your "new user / new member" post -- which tells us what vehicle you have .. (1500 Limited? Laramie? Longhorn? - what does your current console look like? - etc.)

the 2500s/3500s have sweet setups as well, but they also have more heavy duty harnesses for all kinds of accessories.

Thanks Diamondback for that information. Yes you are right thinking about it. I joined a while ago just to read up on information and totally forgot to do the intro and stuff. I was just more of an on looker than anything. I will definitely get that taken care of today!

I feel a bit silly that it never occurred to me to put some switches in that small space. Assuming you used standard rocker switches such as are easily sourced from Amazon, but very slick!

@Diamondback: did you just drill a hole from the driver - side footwell area to route wires to the back of the switch box? Need to remove trim first? I've been hunting these forums for a description of that to avoid bothering you, but without luck. Not the most convenient space in the world but it beats the prospect of cutting more visible trim.

Much appreciated

Negative - there is a "nipple" that you can cut from the main cable that routes down into the footwell area. I ran my main line there.
I then ran the items through that opening and placed a "molex" connector there.
If you are afraid of hitting the switches when you throw something in the storage area, you can make a cover or purchase the protective-style rocker switches.

Thank you for the quick reply. Apologies if I was unclear. I think you're describing how to get through the firewall from the engine bay. Excellent stuff with the diagram.

However I was trying to figure how you got the wires into the back of the console where that cubby holds the switch box. Did you have to drill in from the side of the footwell nearer to the gas pedal? Or is there some other way I haven't thought of?

Sorry -- Yes (to the cubby hole area - No to the footwell area), I did and it is hidden and would not be seen if you ever had to trade your rig in (or are leasing it). Otherwise, just grab a plastic or rubber plug (around the size of a cigarette lighter or smaller) and there ya have it :) I ran the cabling up across another harness and behind the console to that little cubby hole - I coulda sworn I posted images (at least in another thread), so I'll have to look for them (or take more).

Where are the rebel aux switches?

Since I have the overly-priced Laramie, I couldn't install those as I have an entire row of rocker switches. That is where the REBEL switches go.

LOL.....what? Rebel models depending on options have the same rocker switches you do. There are no Rebel specific auxillary switches. Are you thinking of the Power Wagon?

Great to know. I may end up going this route. If you do ever find the pic, throw it up or attach the link. Thanks again!

No, I'm a dummy and confused the 2500 for some reason ;; SORRY EVERYONE
I think the one I worked on musta tried to add these after-the-fact and I was like "I want those"

I should have grabbed the 4-way instead of the 3-way

It would be SO AWESOME if those were available for ours, maybe someday. I still think your solution is one of the best I've seen, and I've hunted these forums a ton for ideas.
