Looking to buy

Hi All - New to this site and current 2016 Chevy High Country owner. I am looking to buy a new Ram 1500 Tungsten or Ram 1500 Limited. Any guidance on what the differences in ride are for these and any info you think will help me decide. I drove a Tungsten and thought it was very stiff but then found out that the truck had "extra heavy duty shocks" installed and wondered if this affected the ride.

I don’t have any personal experience with either of those trims, but I highly recommend contacting Mark Dodge in Louisiana to either purchase from their inventory or custom ordering your new truck. They are a bulk dealer and have incredible pricing. You will most likely not find a dealership that can match their pricing. I live in Texas and custom ordered my Laramie through them. Experience was phenomenal.

Take your time! There's tons of options, pick things you can't live without (ie: passive entry, etc.) and then look for a particular model and level which has those things you really want. One of the best riding trucks, I've ever driven but there are some shortfalls as with any manufacturer. Coming from a Silverado myself, there's very little I miss but they exist. If the Tungsten and Limited are both running air ride, you won't notice any difference. The Tungsten has some options the Limited doesn't have, like the interior options.

As stated above, I don’t think you will really feel any ride difference between the two. It’s basically going to come down to options. What you want and what you don’t want. For instance, the Tungsten is only available in the short bed and you cannot get it without the Ram Boxes. There are other differences as well, obviously.

The air ride is great on roads and nice for towing in that it levels the truck out after the trailer weight is on the hitch (or you put a load in the bed).

The air ride is NOT great for serious offroad stuff. Paved roads and packed-earth/gravel roads are where the air-ride is happy and makes the ride comfortable. But the air ride is at a significant disadvantage when you encounter deep ruts or are doing much in the way of rock crawling. Better off with the coil spring suspension under rough off-road conditions.
